A pair of area football players were named to the 2018 MAIS All-Gridiron preseason football team, the MAIS announced Thursday.

Lamar School quarterback Joseph Hutchinson, a rising senior, made the team, as did Newton County Academy tight end/defensive end Kemp Alderman.

Alderman is an Ole Miss commit for baseball, while Hutchinson has several offers, including Harvard, Cornell, Princeton, Jackson State, UT Martin and more than half a dozen junior colleges.
