A Lauderdale County man has been charged with kidnapping after allegedly forcing the mother of one of his children into a car at gunpoint.

Chad Edward Fuller, 30, is charged with kidnapping in connection with the incident, which Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie said was the result of an ongoing child custody battle.

“The victim and her mother both reported that he displayed a weapon and forced her into the vehicle,” Sollie said.

The incident began Monday afternoon on Confederate Drive just north of Marion. A witness, the woman’s mother, called 911 and followed the suspect in her own car after the suspect drove away with her daughter in the car. Sollie said the mother stayed on the phone with a 911 dispatcher until sheriff’s deputies intercepted the suspect’s car.

When deputies arrived he was taken into custody without incident.

Fuller has since been released on a $10,000 bond.
