Meridian police are investigating an officer-involved collision that occurred Monday afternoon on Highway 19 North.
Meridian Police spokesman Sgt. Dareall Thompson said the officer was turning left from 65th Avenue onto Highway 19 North when his vehicle was struck by a red Pontiac Bonneville traveling southbound on the highway.
The incident was reported about 2:45 p.m.
A witness at the scene told police that the driver of the Pontiac was running a red light when it struck the officer’s squad car.
The officer and at least one person in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, Thompson said.
