- Submitted photoKaila Angelica Marie Lawson of Quitman will be among contenders vying for the title of Ms. Black USA National Pageant today in Washington, D.C. Representing her home state, Lawson’s platform is “Start unknown; Finish unforgettable,” which was inspired by her late younger sister. Lawson said her mission is to “advocate to the world that no matter where or how you start, make your mark in life, and make your finish unforgettable. She is currently pursuing a degree in medical technology management at Meridian Community College, and serves as CEO for Danielle’s Dance Studio and the non-profit organization Blossoming Young Ladies. Lawson is the daughter of Lynnita and Tobey Bartee of Quitman.
