The Meridian restaurant scene will make room this month for Maria’s, a new Mexican eatery its owner promises will offer “authentic” food and friendly vibes.

According to the restaurant’s owner, Carlos Alvarez, Maria’s is a family restaurant that will serve authentic Mexican classics. The menu will include crowd favorites such as fajitas, quesadillas, tacos and burritos.

Though a grand opening has yet to be scheduled, Alvarez anticipates the restaurant opening in two to three weeks.

“Come and enjoy the experience, good food and good service,” Alvarez said.

There are also plans to serve adult beverages, such as margaritas.

“We’re still working on the permits, but we will have it,” said Alvarez, concerning Maria’s alcohol permits.

Maria’s is located at 110 15th Place South in Meridian, across from the Walmart Supercenter in Bonita Lakes.  

When the restaurant opens, it will operate from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The business is looking to fill some spots on staff, so those with experience in the restaurant business may apply to be a part of this family business. Alvarez said he’s looking for  hostesses and wait staff, and people interested in applying can email him at alphacarlos98@gmail.com.

According to Yelp and Trip Advisor, around 10 Mexican restaurants operate in the Meridian area.
