The National Weather Service in Jackson issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Clarke County and southwestern Lauderdale County until 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.

A severe thunderstorm was located over Meehan, 8 miles southwest of Meridian, at 4:35 p.m., moving southwest at 10 mph.

The weather service warned of 60 mph winds and quarter size hail.
