NJCAA Baseball: MCC wins big vs. Pearl River CC

Meridian Community College may not have a football team, but that didn’t stop the baseball team from putting up a football score Friday afternoon as the Eagles defeated Pearl River Community College 25-13 in the NJCAA Region 23 Tournament.

The win advances the Eagles (36-12) to play LSU-Eunice at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Trace Jordan went 4-for-6 with three doubles, a triple and four RBIs, and Milton Smith was 2-for-4 with a home run and six RBIs. Davis Bradshaw went 3-for-6 with a triple and four RBIs. Sam McWilliams also had a home run and two RBIs for MCC, and Zack Carter chipped in by going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Blake Morris finished 2-for-5 with a double for the Eagles, Hunter Stanley had a triple and three RBIs. 

Luke Wallner, Peter Holland, Tyler Lantz and Logan McDowell combined to pitch six innings for the Eagles, surrendering 13 runs on 13 hits with four walks and five strikeouts. The MCC offense finished with 17 hits and six walks.
