From the MHP Troop H Facebook pageTroopers responded to a nine-vehicle accident on I-20, just before the junction with I-59. 

Four 18 wheelers and five passenger vehicles were involved in an accident Tuesday morning that blocked Interstate 20 eastbound traffic for almost four hours.

Due to construction by the Mississippi Department of Transportation, including new signage near Queen City Truck Stop and mowers, traffic had slowed at the junction with Interstate 59, MHP Troop H spokesman Andy West said.

A log truck traveling east hit the back of another vehicle at the slowdown point, starting an accident that would capture all nine vehicles and block traffic for a few hours, West said.

Eight people were injured but none of the injuries were serious, West said. All of the injured people were taken to local hospitals.

The accident occurred around 10:15 a.m. Troops said the highway was cleared by around 2 p.m.
