Precheck, or Pre √, the registered name, can be used at any of the airports in the program and enables the traveler to keep on their shoes, belts and light outer jackets, as well as leave their laptops and liquid bags inside their carry-on bags when they go through a checkpoint while the program is being ran. This lessens wait times to typically five minutes or less.

Travelers can make an appointment for TSA Pre √ enrollment online at www.tsa.gov/precheck and then complete their enrollment in person at a application center.

The application fee is $85 and lasts for five years. It may be paid at the time of your appointment by company check, credit card, money order or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted and enrollees must bring documentation proving identity and citizenship status. Fingerprints are collected during the in-person enrollment session.

In addition to the temporary enrollment center at the Meridian airport, travelers can also enroll at one of the on-airport locations around the country. After enrolling successful applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number through the mail within a few days that is valid for five years.

The KTN can be entered in participating airline frequent flyer profiles where it will be stored for future reservations. It may also be used when booking through a travel management company or in a phone call to the airline reservation center.

More than 200 airports and 42 airlines are participating in the TSA Pre √ program nationwide. This includes all the major airlines and covers domestic and international flights. For more information on the program and the TSA, visit the website tsa.gov.
