The Young Professionals of Meridian will host its 11th annual Beignet Breakfast from 7-11 a.m. Friday on the front steps of the Temple Theatre.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit Care Lodge. At last year’s event, more than 500 dozen beignets were sold, said Tyler Covington, who is the chairman for Young Professionals of Meridian.
“So far this year we already have 150 pre-orders, mostly from local businesses who buy them for their employees,” Covington said. “If you are not getting 10 dozen or so we encourage you to just walk up and purchase on site.”
The event will sell three beignets with a juice or soft drink for $5, a dozen beignets for $10 and juice/soft drinks for $1. Delivery is available for 10 or more dozen orders.
Orders can be placed in advance by emailing Kasey Norton at Kasey.Norton@yourcnb.com. no later than 5 p.m. Thursday, May 10 or call Kacey at 601-484-5277. Pre-orders will have a separate line for faster pick-up service.
Covington said fundraisers such as the Beignet Breakfast are a success because of the generosity of so many people in the community who contribute in various ways – plus they are a great networking key for anyone that is trying to meet other young professionals.
“There are a lot of businesses in the community that volunteer man-hours or resources that help make everything happen,” Covington said. “To donating fryers, beverages, cooking, delivery, clean up, and much more.
“Giving back to the community is something everyone needs to do.”
