A one-vehicle accident killed a man and injured another Friday around 2 p.m. on Interstate 20 near Meehan.

The vehicle was headed eastbound when it ran off the road into a creek, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol. 

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for treatment, Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler said. The victim, a passenger in the vehicle, was identified as 60-year-old Mitchell Jiles of Jackson. 

Cobler said the accident occurred near the 124 mile marker on I-20 in the eastbound lane.
