Roundups: Enterprise-Clarke softball wins Game 3 to advance; NCA baseball sweeps

Visiting Enterprise-Clarke defeated Enterprise-Lincoln 6-1 in a decisive Game 3 Thursday night to advance to the third round of the MHSAA Class 2A fast-pitch softball playoffs.
Maycee Knight went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run to lead Enterprise-Clarke in Game 3, while Haley Stockman was 2-for-4 with a run. Knight hit a solo home run in the top of the third inning to help Enterprise-Clarke take a 3-1 lead. Faith Guy, Kaitlynn Stroud and Sydney Goodman tallied hits for Enterprise-Clarke.
Emma Herrington earned the win in the circle. She allowed just four hits, while walking two and surrendering an earned run.
The Lady Bulldogs scored two runs in second, third and fourth innings to grab the victory.
Enterprise-Clarke lost Game 2, 5-1, earlier Thursday afternoon. Stockman went 2-for-3 in Game 2 to lead Lady Bulldog hitters.
Up next: Enterprise-Clarke (19-6) will host Perry Central for Game 1 Monday before traveling to Perry Central for Games 2 and 3 Tuesday.
Prep Baseball
NCA 4, RIVER OAKS 3
Alec Thompson pitched a strong game, and Newton County Academy did just enough offensively to sweep River Oaks and advance to the second round of the MAIS Class AA baseball postseason.
Thompson went six innings, surrendering two runs on three hits while striking out eight. Kemp Alderman pitched the seventh inning to get the save, giving up one run on three walks. He also struck out one.
Alderman had a double and a walk offensively, and Logan Little finished with a two-run single. Braxton Rose also had an RBI for the Generals (12-14).
NCA will face Centerville Academy in round two of the Class AA postseason next week.
