Baseball roundups: West Lauderdale blows out Pass Christian in Game 1

Kim Partridge tossed five innings of one-hit ball as West Lauderdale pounded Pass Christian 16-1 in Game 1 of a best-of-three series Friday in the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs.

Partridge struck out seven and walked one, and he was also 1-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and a walk. Brett Mason finished 3-for-4 with a double and six RBIs, and Braden Luke was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for West Lauderdale (22-2).

Hunter Eldridge hit a two-run home run, and Chase Tilghman had a three-run home run.

WEST MARION 3, SOUTHEAST LAUDERDALE 0

For the second night in a row, Southeast Lauderdale struggled on offense as it fell to West Marion in Game 2 of the best-of-three series in the Class 3A opening round.

Zach Flaskamp, Dakota Boney, Ryan Smith and Cooper Johnson each had one of the Tigers’ four hits on the night. The Trojans finished with eight hits and one walk.

Boney started for Southeast Lauderdale, pitching six innings and giving up three runs, two earned, with two strikeouts and a walk.

Southeast Lauderdale finished the season 14-12.

NEW SITE 12, UNION 10 

J.T. Vance, Cameron Sones and Jaylon Buckley all collected three hits for the Yellowjackets, but New Site tallied 12 hits and four walks to take Game 2 of the best-of-three series in the Class 2A postseason opening round.

The loss eliminated Union, which finished 13-13 on the season.

Vance hit three doubles for the Yellowjackets, while Sones had a home run.

Lane Hanna pitched 5 2/3 innings for Union, giving up 12 runs, two earned, on eight hits with five strikeouts and four walks. Buckley got the last out in the bottom of the sixth. The Yellowjackets committed five errors on defense. 

COLUMBIA 13, CHOCTAW CENTRAL 8

Reyes Willis finished 3-for-4 for Choctaw Central, but Columbia outhit the Warriors 14-11 as Choctaw Central fell in Game 1 of a best-of-three series in the Class 3A postseason opener.

Parrion Hunter also finished 3-for-4 with a double for Choctaw Central, but no other Warrior had multiple hits.

Lucas Thomas, Zales Lewis and Willis combined to pitch six innings, giving up 13 runs, 12 earned, on 14 hits and 10 walks for Choctaw Central. 

Game 2 is Saturday at Choctaw Central.
