Come join us and if you’re not able to come with a Rosie, come celebrate the legacy of these remarkable working women of World War II. This will be a special year for us – don’t miss it! Last year in Kansas City, we had 30 original Rosies present and the group of Rosies, families, and friends represented 23 states.
We have a membership of almost 6,000 but we are still trying to locate other women who worked on the home front during WWII. Many women worked as riveters, welders, electricians, inspectors in plants, sewing clothing and parachutes for the military, ordnance workers, rolling bandages, clerical and farming. Many others worked as volunteers collecting scrap metals and other critical materials. If you are a woman who worked during WWII (or the descendant of a woman who worked during WWII), we invite you to join our organization and receive a certificate and quarterly news letter. You will find an application on our website www.rosietheriveter.net.
We are a patriotic/non-profit organization whose purpose is to recognize and preserve the history and legacy of such women. We were founded in 1998 by Dr. Frances Carter, Birmingham, Alabama. Current elected officers from Georgia, Maryland, Missouri, Texas and Alabama all serve on a volunteer basis.
