Tip of the Week

Look for bedded bluegills (bream) in shallow water protected from the wind. Depending on the color of the bottom, the beds can be seen from above in perfect circles, often 2- to 3-foot across where the bedding fish have brushed out the bottom soil to lay eggs on a cleaned surface. Stay away from the bed and cast to its edges to avoid spooking the fish.

Beginner’s Corner

Bluegills bite best when they are bedding during the full moon – about one day prior and one day after that moon offers a three day window.

Did You Know?

Besides feeding, bedding bream also take the fly cast lures to protect their bed/eggs. This makes any bait introduced into the bed irresistible to the fish.
