Egg hunts and Easter events planned around region

Hunting for something to do this Easter weekend? There are many fun activities planned locally – suitable for any age.

To start the Easter weekend have fun with your friends and neighbors at two Easter egg hunts scheduled for Friday. At 10 a.m. an Easter egg hunt is planned at James Chaney Park. At 1 p.m. an Easter egg hunt is scheduled at Sowashee Park.

Take a ride over to Chunky to the Bunny Patch at Lazy Acres. Kids will receive an egg carton and scavenger hunt card. The goal is to help Farmer Michael find 12 eggs around the farm and solve a riddle. The $8 admission includes an egg hunt, wagon ride, animal acres, giant jumping pillow, 100-foot mine slide, ride the Chunky-Choo-Choo, visit with the Easter Bunny, and much more. Open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Easter Sunday – $6 admission without the egg hunt. Children two and under are free.

Have you ever hunted Easter eggs in the dark? At 7:30 p.m. Friday, join Jones Chapel Church of God for its second annual Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt. Kids up to 6th grade are welcome to attend. There will be a short service then an egg hunt on the church grounds with more than 5,000 glowing eggs. The church is located at 5880 Hwy. 145, Meridian.

From 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Meridian Parks and Recreation will host its annual Highland Park Easter Egg Hunt with 4,000 eggs to hunt. Gold and Silver Prizes, candy, balloons, carousel rides. Age groups: 3-4-year-olds, 5-7-year-olds, 8-10-year-olds. FMI: 601-485-1802.

The Knights of Columbus plan at Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. Sunday at their hall on Hwy. 19.

 

At 3 p.m. the Temple Theatre will present “The Power of Passion” – A Gospel Stage Play.
