MCC golf finishes second at Glenlakes

The Meridian Community College golf team placed second at the Glenlakes Invitational at Glenlakes Golf Course in Foley, Alabama, after winning the MACJC event No. 5 on Sunday by 50 strokes. Isaiah Jackson won medalist at both events.
Completing a four-day, two-tournament, five-round trip, the MCC golf team came in second by just one stroke to Division I powerhouse Central Alabama. Jackson won on the first hole of a three-player playoff to earn his second medalist honor in three days.
The Eagles shot 288-299-290 (+13) to finish one stroke behind Central Alabama, which shot 293-292-291 (+12). Mississippi Gulf Coast finished third by shooting 296-297-294 (+23). Fourteen teams played in the tournament that was played on the same course that will host the Division II national championship in May.
Isaiah shot 70-75-68 to tie with Jake Maples from Central Alabama and Trey Tobias from Walters State (Tennessee). Isaiah made a 6-foot birdie putt on the first hole to win medalist.
Mitchel Fifer shot 72-72-75 to finish T7. Will Kidder shot 73-74-74 to finish T10. Jacob Berry shot 73-79-78 to place T27. Rhett Walters shot 84-78-73 to finish T38. Playing as an individual, Parker Brooks shot 74-75-80 to finish T24.
The Eagles play next at the MACJC state championship April 12-13 at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Course on the Pearl River Resort.
