Mr. and Mrs. Oscar L. “Von” Burt Jr. of Meridian announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Ivey Louise, to Christopher “Chris” Michael Shelton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Vickers of Brandon.

Miss Burt is the granddaughter of Mrs. Oscar L. Burt Sr. of Toomsuba and the late Mr. Oscar L. Burt Sr., and the late Mr. and Mrs. N.P. Jarman Jr. of Meridian.

The bride-elect is a 2010 graduate of Meridian High School and a 2014 graduate of Mississippi State University, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology. She also earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2017.

While attending Mississippi State University, Miss Burt was a Mississippi State University cheerleader, and a member of Phi Mu sorority.

Miss Burt is employed by the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Mr. Shelton is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Patrick Brabston Jr. of Benton, Mr. and Mrs. James Lewis Vickers of Yazoo City, Ms. Shirley Shelton of Midlothian, Texas, and the late Mr. Joseph Aswell Shelton.

The bridegroom-elect is a 1999 graduate of Benton Academy and a 2004 graduate of Mississippi State University, where he earned a bachelor of science in Business Information Systems.

While attending Mississippi State University, he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity.

Mr. Shelton is employed as a Sales Manager at Cannon Solutions of America.

The couple will exchange vows at 7:30 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, May 5, 2018, in Jackson, with a reception to immediately follow at Old Capitol Inn.
