Tuesday, March 6

• 10 a.m. – Baby/Toddler Presentation by Happy Smiles at the Meridian Lauderdale County Public Library. Chess Club meets at 4:30 p.m.

• Noon-5 p.m. – The MSU Psychology Club in Meridian will sponsor a blood drive with Mississippi Blood Services at the Mississippi State University Campus in Meridian. Donors will receive a T-shirt (while supplies last).

• 7:30 p.m. -Vibrant, passionate dancing imbued with the experiences of African-American women will reach out from the stage of the MSU Riley Center as Urban Bush Women perform. Tickets are $39 and $33 at the MSU Riley Center Box Office, which is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Wednesday, March 7

• 11:30 a.m. – The monthly meeting of the Central MS Chapter 1251 of NARFE (National Active and Retired Federal Employees) will be held at Ronnie’s Steak and Grill, 734 Pecan Ave., Philadelphia. All active and retired federal employees and spouses are invited to attend. FMI: 601-389-1946.

• 5 p.m. – A Regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Lauderdale County School District will be held at the Boardroom at 301 46th Ct., 2nd Floor, Meridian.

• 5:15 p.m. – Community Forum at Northeast Middle School for parents to weigh in on the search for the system’s next Lauderdale County School Superintendent to succeed Randy Hodges.

• The Democratic Executive Committee meeting will be held at the new Velma Young Community Center, 2400 16th Ave.

• 10:30 a.m. – St. Thomas Aquinas Church of Hattiesburg will host its annual Irish-Italian Festival starting with the festival’s “Rock N’ Stroll” parade. The festival is from 5-10:30 p.m. at the church, following a 4 p.m. Mass. Admission is free to these events, with tickets available for food and drinks at the entrance. • 3 p.m. – East Central Community College will dedicate the Lucille Wood Tennis Court at the college’s new Tennis Complex on the campus in Decatur. The public is invited to attend the dedication ceremony.

• 7 p.m. – The DAV (Disabled American Veterans) will meet at the Kendallwood Bldg (Highland Park) on 19th St. and 41st Ave. There will be a potluck meal at 6:30 p.m. with each person bringing something with them for the meal.
