Upcoming programs, events at local and area colleges and universities:

Thursday

• East Central Community College (ECCC), Decatur: Workforce Development Center class, Pharmacy Tech, from 1-5 p.m. Class meets Thursdays for 14 weeks; clinical dates, times TBA. Beginning or on Feb. 26

• Meridian Community College (MCC): Personal Enrichment class, Appy Hour- Apple and Android, from 6-8 p.m.

• MCC: Workforce Development class, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel For the Advanced, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Class continues to March 27.

• ECCC: Workforce Development Center class, Phlebotomy, from 6-9 p.m., at the former U.S. Motors Building, located at 1224 North Pecan Ave., in Philadelphia. Feb. 28

• ECCC: Deadline for drumline auditions for Wall O’Sound Band. Video submissions only. Requirements can be found at www.eccc.edu/eccc-wall-o-sound.

March 19

• ECCC: Color guard workshop for Wall O’Sound Band, from 5-7 p.m., South Campus Gymnasium. Those planning to audition must attend workshop or watch the online video at www.eccc.edu/eccc-wall-o-sound. to learn audition routine. An additional practice will be held April 5, from 1-3 p.m. Participants should bring their own flag to each event, if possible.

March 29

• ECCC, Decatur: 16th Annual Business, Education & Healthcare Expo, 9:30-11 a.m., Bracken-Wood Gym. FMI: Linda Vance, 601-635-6120 or lvance@eccc.edu

April 3

• ECCC, Decatur: Auditions for the Centralettes dance team, from 3-5 p.m., South Campus Gymnasium.

April 5

• ECCC, Decatur: Drum major auditions, from 1-3 p.m., Vickers Fine Arts Center. Auditions also will be held April 6, April 19 and April, from 1-3 p.m., and April 13, from 2:30-4 p.m.

Students should attend one of the above dates and be prepared to sing a simple song such as a hymn, folk song, or patriotic song. Participants must be able to read music.

April 6

• ECCC, Decatur: Auditions for Concert Choir and Voce’ a cappella ensemble, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Room 503 of the Vickers Fine Arts Center.

April 7

• ECCC, Decatur: Tryouts for 2018-19 Cheerleading Squad, from 8 a.m.-noon, South Campus Gymnasium. Fee: $25 fee.

Pre-tryout clinics will be held April 3-5, from 7- 9 p.m., in the South Campus Gymnasium. During these sessions, participants will learn the cheer, fight song routine and stunts necessary for tryouts. Those wishing to tryout must attend at least one clinic.

Those selected for the squad receive full-tuition scholarships.
