An abandoned home on Northeast Cole Road was a total loss after a fire on Sunday afternoon.

Allan Dover, the Lauderdale County Fire Coordinator, said the fire, in the 9500 block of Northeast Cole Road, appeared to be accidental and may have sparked from a possible nearby outdoor burning. 

The fire occurred around 1:35 p.m. and volunteers from Toomsuba, Lauderdale and Northeast fire services responded. 

Dover said the cause is under investigation.
