For patients battling illnesses, blood transfusions enable them to survive and thrive through the holiday season and spend time with their families. But these transfusions depend on the support of donors and the Mississippi Blood Services will host two blood drives in the name of two local women fighting their own battles against diseases. 

On Friday, Dec. 29, MBS will hold a blood drive for Helen Valentine, of the EC HealthNet Family Health Center, from noon to 6 p.m. The clinic, located on Highway 19 North next to Walmart, will also have t-shirts for donors while supplies last.

The following day, a blood drive for Leslie Mabry will be held at Marvin’s Building Supply, at 2015 Highway 19 South, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donors will also receive a t-shirt while supplies last. Donors will receive a t-shirt while supplies last

Donors must have a valid form of idea and weigh at least 110 pounds. Minors interested in donating must be at least 16 years of age and have a signed parental consent form, available at msblood.com.
