An unidentified man sustained multiple gunshot wounds on Saturday during a dispute with another unidentified man.

The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. on Murphy Road in Lauderdale County, said Lauderdale County Sheriff Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun.

Calhoun said the men knew each other, but he did not know the nature of the relationship.

“It appears there has been some type of going dispute between two men,” Calhoun said. “The initial investigation indicates there was a car crash involved at which time both parties were armed.

“One man’s been shot multiples times, and the other individual was not.”

The alleged victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance, and his condition was unknown at the time of this report.

No other information concerning pending charges or the identities of the parties involved were available.
