Deputies identified the man killed in a two-car collision Tuesday night as Corderick Demond Burton, a Lauderdale resident.
Burton, 30, died after two cars, traveling in opposite directions on York Road, collided around 5:15 p.m. when one drifted into oncoming traffic. The left front corner of that driver’s car hit the left front corner of the other car, according to Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie Tuesday night.
Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun didn’t have more information about which vehicle Burton drove or whether he wore a seatbelt.
Tuesday night, Sollie said Burton died at the scene while the other driver was taken to a local hospital in a personal vehicle.
Evidence collected at the scene is expected to reveal more details about the accident, Sollie said.
Sollie said first responders from the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, Metro Ambulance and Center Ridge Volunteer Fire Department answered the call.
