Grateful for Head Start program
As a Head Start parent here in Biloxi, I was honored and energized to meet with the offices of Senators Roger Wicker and Thad Cochran, and Representatives Trent Kelly and Gregg Harper, while in Washington, D.C., for the National Head Start Association Fall Leadership Institute.
I joined 1,000 Head Start families, alumni and staff from almost all 50 states at a Capitol Hill rally calling on Congress to allocate strong funding for Head Start. During my meetings with lawmakers, I spoke about my personal story. At one point, I could not work because I could not afford childcare, but then my 1-year-old, Dalilah, started attending Moore Community House Early Head Start. Now, I’m able to work a full-time job with Praetorian Health Service, which empowers me to provide for my family.
Early Head Start is truly an amazing program that educates not only the child, but the entire family. Head Start has inspired my family and me to read more and do more family activities together. The program has also introduced my children and myself to different fruits and a more balanced and nutritious diet for all of us. Being an active parent at Moore Community House, I’ve joined the policy committee to be more involved. Head Start gave my family and me a chance, and for that I’ll forever be grateful.
Now is the time for Washington to step up on behalf of our most vulnerable early learners. Every eligible child deserves the Head Start advantage!

Pathway to avoid nuclear holocaust
The following are dreams that I had in the early morning of Oct. 31. I dreamed that I was in a place of despair, confusion, disaster, pain and hurt. I did not know where I was or what had happened, but chaos prevailed. I then woke up very troubled.
I thought and prayed about this dream. Finally, I went to sleep again. Then the same dream reoccurred exactly as the first one had come. Again, I awakened very troubled and continued to pray about what I had seen. Soon I went back to sleep, and the third time I had the exact dream that had occurred to me the first and second times. I awakened very troubled again, and I heard within my spirit clearly and distinctly, “What you have experienced is the aftermath of a nuclear attack against the United States of America. Such an attack is indeed an imminent possibility” are the words that I heard.
Still very troubled, I considered what I had heard and continued to pray. Soon I was asleep and had my fourth dream. I saw myself in the dream as walking outside where there was no grass. I came upon numerous old coins in the dirt. They appeared to be rare and valuable. I immediately scooped them up. I was not given a direct word on what this dream meant. I have prayed a lot about it. I believe that these coins represent something very valuable that the church needs to rediscover. They symbolize the value of corporate prayer that the church needs to experience. I am convinced that the CHURCH CORPORATE needs to rediscover the POWER that is inherent in corporate prayer, which alone can avert impending disaster.
May God help the church recognize how strategic is our responsibility in this dangerous hour.
