In Lauderdale County, District 2 voters will choose a Justice Court judge and constable in a special election — with a possible runoff Nov. 28.

Ondray Harris Sr. is serving as interim Justice Court Judge, and faces Army veteran and law student Jesse Hill Jr.

Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris McFarland is serving as interim constable and faces Ondray M. Harris Jr., a drafter for Structural Steel Detailing Corporation.

Circuit Clerk Donna Jill Johnson wants voters to know that the district lines for these two offices are not the same as the District 2 supervisor lines.

“Out of those 15, 10 are ‘split’ precincts, [which] means not everyone registered to vote in that particular precinct can vote in this special election,” Johnson wrote in an email. “The other [five] precincts, everyone is eligible.”

Voters should check their registration card to see if they’re in JCJ and CON [District 2] precincts.

The 10 split precincts are Meridian Little Theatre, Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church, Central Fire Station, First Baptist Church of Lauderdale, Lauderdale Baptist Association building, El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Frank Cochran Center, First Baptist Church of Meridian, Alamucha/Greenhill Missionary Baptist Church and Mt. Gilled Baptist Church.

The other five include Velma Young Community Center, Raymond P. Davis Annex, Springhill Baptist Church, Russell Community Center and Toomsuba Fire Station.

In Clarke County, Enterprise and Quitman voters can elect or re-elect school board members, while voters countywide will see two alcohol sales items on the ballot – one for the sale of beer and wine and another for the sale of liquor.

Quitman County School Board member Chris Dew is running unopposed in Place 2.

In Enterprise, Daniel Benefield, Andi Kersh McNeece, Billy Wayne Mosley and Rory Wayman are running for school board.
