An ex-girlfriend of Amerson agreed to meet Amerson and provide transportation to get something to eat but instead produced a handgun and demanded they go to the woman’s house in Toomsuba, Calhoun said.

Amerson spent the night before allowing the woman to drop him off in Meridian the next morning, Calhoun said.

According to Calhoun, Amerson was on probation for a kidnapping charge from 2015.

Bond for Amerson was set at $25,000 for the kidnapping charge and $5,000 for being a felon in possession of a gun. He bonded out Wednesday shortly after being booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Facility.
