Gas station attendant robbed at gunpoint in Meridian

Police are seeking a suspect believed to have robbed two local Family Dollar employees at gunpoint late Saturday night.

According to Meridian Police spokesman Sgt. Dareall Thompson, the incident occurred about 9:30 p.m., after the employees closed the store, located at 2107 24th Ave.

The suspect, described as a black man wearing a hoodie, approached the two employees from the north side of the building. Thompson said the suspect brandished a handgun and demanded the nightly deposit. He then ran behind the store, leaving the scene.

Thompson said the suspect was wearing the hoodie in a way that made his face indistinguishable.

No injuries were reported. Thompson said police are reviewing video footage in an effort to identify the suspect.

This is the second reported robbery at this Family Dollar location this month. On Sept. 5, police say a man entered the store, pointed a gun at a clerk and demanded money. The suspect left the store without any money, as the clerk ran to the back of the store during the attempted robbery.

Thompson said the suspect in the Sept. 5 incident has yet to be arrested.
