Saturday, Sept. 23

• 1 p.m. – The Porterville Consolidated School Reunion Committee will have its meeting at the Porterville Community Center. Everyone whoever attended the old school is asked to attend as we begin to prepare for next year’s reunion. FMI: 662-46-5768.

• 3:30 p.m. – Friends will gather at Sandy Ridge Bluegrass Park for a day of fellowship, food, pickin’ and grinnin’. Bring a covered dish for supper at 6 p.m. then hang around for some bluegrass music with possible banjo, mandolin, guitar, and fiddle players. FMI: 601-644-3701.

• 7:30 a.m. – Ride With the Governor. We’ll have a leg leaving from Chunky River Harley- Davidson to meet up with the Governor in Hattiesburg. • 2 p.m. – MSU Riley Center presents “How I Became a Pirate,” the musical Family Show that leads off the MSU Riley Center’s 2017-2018 Fall/Winter Performing Arts Series. Crafted especially for kindergarteners through fifth-graders. • 10 a.m. – A section of Hwy 513 in Clarke County will be dedicated as the “Marine Corporal Dustin Lee Memorial Highway at Stonewall Town Hall located at 801 Erwin Road in Stonewall.

• 10 a.m. – Edward Jones Ribbon Cutting, 2514 River Birch Dr. Suite 100A.

• 4:30 p.m. – K-6 Grade Berenstain Bears Birthday Mix and Mingle at the Meridian-Lauderdale County Public Library.

• 4:30-5:45 p.m. – EMBDC to host American-Israel Friendship League at the MSU Riley Center. Hosts Attorney General Jim Hood and Speaker Pro Tem Greg Snowden. Speakers Governor Phil Bryant and Consul General of Israel Lior Haiat.

• 6:30 p.m. – “Be Our Guest Night” – All area high school students are invited to East Central Community College’s game between East Central Warriors and No. 13 ranked Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves in a Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges South Division Battle in Bailey Stadium on the ECCC campus in Decatur. It will also be Black Out Bailey night and all visiting students and Warrior fans are encouraged to wear black to the game. Saturday, Sept. 30

• 7 a.m-until – First Apostolic Church in Meridian will have a Chicken and Waffles Breakfast Fundraiser. $8 person and included eggs, grits, and juice. May substitute pancakes for waffles. Dine in or carry out 2010 Mosby Road. FMI: 601-482-1422.

• 8 a.m. – The Queen City Race for Life & Street Strut will be at Dumont Plaza with registration to begin at 6:30 a.m. – 5K starts at 8 a.m., and 1 mile starts at 9 a.m. followed by the Street Strut and High Heel Dash. The race will begin and end at 500 22nd Ave. – 5K Run/Walk is $20 in advance and $25 the day of – High Heel Dash is $100 and Street Strut/Umbrella Decoration Contest is $5 in advance or $7 on race day. • 9 a.m.-4 p.m. – 27th annual Clarke County Forestry and Wildlife Festival at Archusa Water Park in Quitman. The event will include a Car and Truck Show, Kiddie-Land with new and exciting games, Arts and Crafts, live entertainment, bass tournament, equipment displays, a Mr. and Miss Clarke County pageant, and lots of food.

• 11 a.m.-3 p.m. – The Moose Lodge of Meridian will have a Poker Run starting at Chunky River Harley Davidson. • 9:30 a.m. – First Baptist Church in Lauderdale will have their 44th Annual Celebration with guest speaker Mike Russell, and Guest Music with Paul Barkley.
