No. 1 EMCC beats Itawamba 48-24

Tyrell Price scored a pair of touchdowns as No. 1-ranked East Mississippi Community College rolled past Itawamba Community College 48-24 in Thursday night junior college football action.

Price scored his first touchdown on a 1-yard run with 9:40 left in the first quarter. His second touchdown came with 9:38 left in the second quarter. 

Taylor Crabtree had a 38-yard field goal in the first quarter and also had a 39-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for EMCC.

Quarterback Lindsey Scott Jr. scored on a 21-yard carry with 13:47 left in the their quarter, and Ja’Mori Mark had a 59-yard touchdown run with 2:02 remaining in the third. In the fourth quarter, Brandon Rodgers caught a 29-yard pass from Scott, and Dontario Drummond caught a 17-yard scoring pass from Scott to go along with Crabtree’s field goal.

Price gained 115 yards on 19 attempts, and Mark added 106 yards on five rushes. Scott also had 106 yards on 16 carries and was 21-for-35 with 199 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Kirk Merritt led in receiving yards with eight catches for 70 yards. Former Meridian High School standout Daniel Crowell caught two passes for 20 yards.

Dwayne Pickett finished with nine too tackles and one assist defensively along with a quarterback hurry. Ty’Ree Evans added eight solo tackles.

EMCC (4-0, 2-0) will travel to Mississippi Delta Community College next Thursday.
