Economic directors seek fairness for Mississippi Power

Over the past 8-10 months our four respective organizations have worked towards a renewed regional economic development effort. This effort is being led by our business community, working closely with our elected officials, our university and community college leaders, our existing industries, our foundations and our utilities.

One of the initial entities interested in this regional economic development effort was the Mississippi Power Company. Most of us know Mississippi Power as the provider of electricity to our homes and businesses. Many of us know Mississippi Power as the company that built the “Kemper Plant.” But Mississippi Power is so much more than just an electric power supplier. They lead the way in economic development helping us retain and recruit industry into our region. They also lead the way in our community development efforts, supporting our fundraisers, our volunteer requests, our non-profit organizations and boards, our downtown development efforts, our chambers of commerce, our minority business initiatives and our main street organizations. Mississippi Power is truly invested in all aspects of our region.

Join us as we advocate a “settlement” between the Public Service Commission and Mississippi Power. Our region needs “fair” resolution to this issue without crippling one of the most active partners we have in our regional economic and community development efforts.
