The Trojans scored on four of their five first-half possessions to set the pace for a 47-14 victory over the Bulldogs Friday night at Northeast Lauderdale High School.

“The complete-game effort is something I’m definitely proud of,” Northeast Lauderdale coach Curt Blackburn said. “We knew their offense was going with ball control, and they did a pretty good job of keeping our offense off the field. But I’m just proud of the effort the guys played with and with the heart they showed tonight.”

Enterprise (0-2) scored on a 52-yard run by Zach Kyle and a two-point conversion early in the first quarter to lead 8-0, but that’s as close as the Bulldogs would get.

Late in the first quarter, Northeast Lauderdale (2-0) quarterback Kamerion Hulin floated a pass to Jarvis Cook, who pulled it in and raced 59 yards for Northeast Lauderdale’s first score to cut Enterprise’s lead to 8-7.

Trojan defender AJ Randolph intercepted Enterprise quarterback Ridge Kidd in the second quarter to set up a 30-yard touchdown run by Hulin to give Northeast Lauderdale a 14-8 lead.

Cook pulled in his second touchdown pass of the night when quarterback Braxton Lee found him for a 39-yard strike with 5:21 remaining in the first half to give the Trojans a 21-8 lead.

“The first half, we had to work and we had to execute plays,” Cook said. “Coach told us not to come into the game cocky. We always have to come into a game not looking at a team by its record, but keep fighting and pushing.”

Hulin had another Northeast Lauderdale score on the ground with 52 seconds left in the second quarter to give Northeast Lauderdale a 27-8 halftime lead.

Hulin scored his fourth touchdown of the game in the third quarter, courtesy of a 4-yard run.

“(Enterprise) is a good team, but we executed as a team to get better this week,” Hulin said. “We looked past the big win last week over Kemper, and got a good win tonight.”

Je’Torie Grace added a 70-yard score in the third quarter, and Joheim Smith rushed 6 yards for a touchdown in the fourth for the Trojans.

Jakyran Chapman capped Enterprise’s scoring with a touchdown run late in the fourth.

Enterprise entered Friday’s game with less than its full roster after several Week 1 injuries, forcing the Bulldogs to play a number of underclassmen. Despite the loss, Bulldogs coach Kelly Jimmerson said there were still positives to take from the game.

“Injuries happen, and we have to accept them and move on —  it’s next guy up.” Jimmerson said. “Obviously, the injuries contributed to us playing a lot of young guys that play hard, but they’re going to make mistakes. Tonight, we got better, even though the score may not indicate it. We had a lot better effort, and we moved the ball on offense… We just have to keep working, and just keep getting better every week. Because one day, we’ll be where we need to be. But right now, we’re still learning.”

Northeast Lauderdale travels to Southeast Lauderdale next week while Enterprise travels to Stringer.
