Law enforcement recognized for DUI efforts

Several Lauderdale County law enforcement officers received recognition for their efforts to combat intoxicated drivers.
Dustin Allen and Tyler Dearman, deputies with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, and Brian Kelly, an officer with the Meridian Police Department, received recognition for their work in 2016, joining the DUI 100 Club.

Also recognized were two troopers from Troop H, headquartered in Meridian, Alfredo Hernandez and Bradley Edmondston.
The organization STORM, standing for Sobriety-Trained Officers Representing Mississippi, recognized law enforcement officers from around the state for their service.
According to Lauderdale County Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun, the DUI 100 Club used to stand for 100 DUI tickets but the threshold has been lowered.
