The Meridian Police Department responded to eight auto burglaries and one residential burglary within a block on Highway 39 North Tuesday night.
Meridian Police Sgt. Dareall Thompson said the burglaries occurred at apartments located on the 4300 to 4500 block of Highway 39.
The Woodlands and Northwood Place Apartments, at the 4500 and the 4300 block respectively, are next door to each other on Highway 39 South.
Police reported seven auto burglaries on the 4500 block as well as one auto burglary and one residential burglary on the 4300 block.
“It’s too early to say if they are related,” Thompson said. “Based on the location, being back-to-back, we do believe it’s going to be the same person (or group).”
Not every vehicle had something missing, but someone had broken the window and gone through the glove box of the vehicles, Thompson said.
Based on the owner’s statements, Thompson said they believed the burglaries happened late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. Police responded to the burglaries around 7 a.m. Wednesday.
