“Tawana is a great fit for our recruitment team,” EMCC Assistant Vice President for Institutional Advancement Leia Hill said. “She is passionate about EMCC and the students she serves.”
Bauer grew up in Cedar Bluff and graduated from West Point High School in 1995. She attended EMCC, where she earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Business and Marketing Management. While a student at EMCC, Bauer served as the college’s first student national officer as the southern region vice president for Delta Epsilon Chi and was the district editor for the Lion’s Yearbook.
She later earned a Bachelors of Science degree from Magnolia Bible College in Kosciusko, with stints as a missionary and preschool teacher before she returned to West Point and was hired at EMCC.
Bauer spent much of her time as a Financial Aid Counselor and VA Coordinator helping students navigate paperwork. Her new position as a recruiter will require more facetime with students.
“I am really excited about connecting people with the opportunities that EMCC has to offer,” Bauer said. “It is easy to sell a product that you believe in. I owe who I am both professionally and personally to EMCC. The things I learned here as a student have benefitted me, not only in my career but as a mom, a wife and in every aspect as an individual.”
Bauer is married to John Bauer, who is a minister for the Old Aberdeen Road Church of Christ and a high school basketball coach for Oak Hill Academy. They have two children, Kaylee, 12, and Tyler, 9.
