Hosted by Meridian natives Rodney Hood of the Utah Jazz basketball team and renowned rapper and producer Big K.R.I.T. Presented by bigLITTLEProductions.

“It’s nightlife entertainment for the professional basketball players who assist Rodney Hood with his annual basketball camp here in Meridian,” said Kino Mosley of bigLITTLEProductions. “The party is open to 21 and older.”

Live music will be provided by Yung Vokalz of Birmingham, Ala., with DJ Sirato on the turntables. A cigar lounge, VIP section and cash bar available. 

A portion of the proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi.

A festival to celebrate all that is Union near the end of summer. Includes a 5K run, food, vendors and live music.

POWER OF THE PURSE

 Aug. 24, 2017, at The MSU Riley Center, Meridian.

Power of the Purse is an annual fundraising event to benefit the United Way of East Mississippi’s Impact Program, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a literacy program for children. Sponsored by Women’s Leadership Council of the United Way of East Mississippi POP’s was co-founded in 2012 by Susie Broadhead and Angie Denney, after attending a similar event in Athens, Georgia.

The women-only event is a night out filled with Hors D’oeuvres, wine, purses, and fun, with a live and silent auction of “purse” items with “extraordinaire” auctioneer Larry Sims from Laurel. The first three years Power of the Purse raised more than $75,000 for the Imagination Library in Lauderdale, Kemper, Neshoba, and Quitman school district.

MERIDIAN DAY

Aug. 27, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at City Hall

The second annual event will have activities such as pony rides, inflatables and a dunking booth, along with live music and food. This is a family-friendly event.
