The Meridian Star is planning its annual Meridian and its Neighbors special section scheduled for publication later this summer.
Last year, you came through for us, helping identify 50 must-see places to visit. This year, we’re placing the focus on events that are musts to add to your calendar.
Recent events that come to mind are the Jimmie Rodgers Festival, Juneteenth, State Games of Mississippi, the Chunky River Raft Race and the Memorial Day ceremony at the Lauderdale County Courthouse.
Other memories include the Neshoba County Fair, Soule Steam Festival, Mardis Gras Parade, the Merrehope Christmas tree display and the Veterans Day Parade. You might have personal favorites, too, like the season opener for Meridian Little Theatre, the Boots and Bluegrass show or the Ralph Morgan Rodeos.
Those are only a few ideas; we know you will tell us about your favorite must-dos to add to our list. Send an email to editor@themeridianstar.com with your nominations to add to the calendar and a little bit about why you like them. Please include “save the date” in the subject line. The deadline for our list is June 28.
Thanks for your help.
