Thankful for representing Marion
Thank you to all supporters that came out on June 6 and cast their vote for me as Marion alderman.

It was an honor to serve as alderman for three terms being the first African-American alderman in Marion. I have always been a huge supporter of Marion and always will be.
Many Marionites may know me as the first African American secretary at Northeast Elementary as well, continuing over 30 years of service with the Lauderdale County School District. Although it is not ideal news that I will not be continuing as the alderman, it is not the end of my support.
I have had the opportunity to meet so many people that love the city and want to see the town grow beyond belief. I have had the honor of assisting with bringing businesses to Marion to support our citizens, and will continue to do so with the Dollar General project. It has been an honor knowing that I was so instrumental in developing that relationship supporting us today.
Through my journey in Marion as a citizen and member of local government, I have had the opportunity to see so many children grow to adults that have been key to our growth as a township. Just as I watched the children grow in our town, I pray that you will support our growth moving forward. I challenge you to support me through my continuing support of Marion. Always remember, together we can.

Tax cuts benefit wealthy
Your editorial last Sunday on budget cuts was right on.
But without them how could we fund tax cuts for the wealthy?
