The Basilica Shrine of Saint Mary in Wilmington, N.C., was the setting for the Saturday, May 20, 2017, wedding of Melissa Mielke and Adam Stephenson Mitchell, both of Meridian. The ceremony was conducted by the Very Rev. Robert J. Kus, pastor of the church.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Carl Anthony Mielke of Leland, N.C., and Mr. and Mrs. John Mann Mitchell Jr. of Meridian.

Grandparents of the bride are the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Mielke of Interlaken, N.J., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred R. Manville of Matawan, N.J.

Grandparents of the bridegroom are the late Mr. and Mrs. John Mitchell Sr. of Meridian and Mr. and Mrs. Curtis John Marcello Sr. of Houma, La.

Music for the ceremony was provided by Sara Bryant, director of music of the church. The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

Matron of honor was the bride’s sister, Elizabeth Grace Doros of Saratoga, Calif.

Bridesmaids were Emily Athanas of Baltimore, Md., Crystal Threlfall of Long Beach, Calif., Ashley Knight of Singapore, Venice Lagone of New York, N.Y., Melissa Cook of Washington, D.C., and Natalie Bartlett of Boston, Mass.

Flower girls and ring bearer were Evelyn Doros of Saratoga, Calif., Ella Athanas of Baltimore, Md., and Mann Mitchell of Meridian, the bridegroom’s son and bride’s stepson.

The father of the bridegroom served as best man.

Groomsmen were Evan Athanas of Baltimore, Md., Luke Abrusley of Oakdale, La., Zachary Moore of Birmingham, Ala., Nathan Myatt and Josh Bennett, both of Meridian, and JR Hand of Nashville, Tenn. Austin Athanas of Baltimore, Md., served as junior groomsman.

Ushers were the bride’s brothers, Lance Mielke of Long Beach, Calif., and Luke Mielke of Augusta, Ga., Jonathan Doros of Saratoga, Calif., and Reid “Diesel” Davis of Jackson.

A reception was held at The Barn at Rock Creek in Leland, N.C. Music was provided by Sam Hill Entertainment – “In Full” of Charlottesville, Va.

After a wedding trip to South Africa – Cape Town, Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Thornybush Game Reserve – the couple resides in Meridian.
