A gas leak in Philadelphia affected five homes after a street crew hit a gas line Wednesday.
Dale Yates, a Battalion Chief with the Philadelphia Fire Department, said a street crew hit a gas line around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday morning at the intersection of State Avenue and Well Street.
Yates said the leak was stopped by 11:30 a.m. and crews had arrived to repair the line.
“It will probably be back to normal in an hour,” Yates said.
Though the leak affected fives homes, Yates said two were vacant at the time of the leak and only three homes needed to be evacuated.
