The National Center for Appropriate Technology is partnering with the USDA’s Farm Service Agency and NRCS offices across Mississippi to improve producers’ farm finance literacy, to educate producers about the variety of assistance programs available to them and to help interested farmers complete applications for this assistance.
NCAT will be hosting three free workshops the first week of June. The workshops will include information on the basics of farm financial planning and how FSA loan and assistance programs can assist Mississippi farmers to become more profitable. NCAT will be able to provide one-on-one assistance as needed to help participants fill out FSA applications for loan and assistance programs.
Workshop Dates and Locations:
•June 5, from 6-8 p.m.: Kemper County Extension Office, 587 Old Scooba Street, DeKalb.
•June 6, from 6-8 p.m.: Clarke County Multipurpose Building, 99 Westwood Ave., Quitman.
•June 8, from 6-8 p.m.: EMEPA Auditorium, 2128 Hwy 39N, Meridian.
The topics covered will be beneficial for beginning farmers and experienced farmers alike. NCAT has developed numerous management, farm, and financial planning tools that will be used in this educational program.
Though the event is free, registration is required. If attending, please register by going to www.ncat.org/events. Dinner will be provided. Veterans, limited resource farmers, beginning farmers, women, and minority farmers are especially invited to attend these workshops.
