The National Weather Service in Jackson has canceled a tornado watch for much of Mississippi, including Lauderdale and surrounding counties.
The main line of the storm has pushed east into southeast Mississippi and Alabama, according to the weather service. The watch remains in Clarke County.
A flash flood watch is also in effect for the region through midnight.
Heavy rains are expected to continue, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS reported widespread torrential rainfall, due to high-record amount of moisture throughout the atmosphere, and flooding are likely to occur Sunday with the line of storms moving through the region.
Widespread rainfall of two to three inches and localized amounts of four to six inches could lead to flash flooding of roads and low-lying areas and lead to rapid rises in local rivers into minor to potentially moderate flood categories.
Rain and thunderstorms are likely throughout the day, with the greatest threat from 1 p.m to midnight, according to the weather service.
