‘9 to 5: The Musical’ opens Thursday at Meridian Little Theatre

The curtain rises this week for the last show of the Meridian Little Theatre’s 84th season.
“9 to 5: The Musical” debuts Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and runs through May 9. This high-energy, hilarious story of friendship and revenge is based on the 1980 hit movie, with music and lyrics written by country music icon Dolly Parton. “9 to 5: The Musical” received 15 Drama Desk Award Nominations and four Tony Award Nominations.
“Everything you loved about the movie is here on the MLT stage – plus so much more,” Stage Director Ellie Massey said. The production will be Massey’s first as MLT director.
The family-friendly production features Jennie House, Sara Odom, Emily White, Karen Elmore, Brian Smith, Dalton Newell, Michael Edwards, Darby Kinney, Ashley Rickles, Sarah Bolstad, Steve Stringer, Madeline Callahan, Aa’Keela Hudnall, Randy Wayne, Allen Hunt, Zena Limerick, Connie B. Gruno, Virginia White, Brittney Newell, Laquinton Holiday, Ansley Slaughter, Chris Webster and Darby Smithson.
Wayne McInnis serves as the production’s musical director, Carol Merrill is choreographer, Carol Sue Wiggins is stage manager, and Carey Smith serves as orchestra conductor.
Show dates are Thursday through May 9, with curtain time set at 7:30 p.m. May 4-6 and May 8-9, plus a matinee performance Sunday at 2 p.m.
