MCC PBL chapters take state wins

Two Meridian Community College chapters of Phi Beta Lambda, the career student organization, received first place accolades and other awards at the Mississippi State Leadership Conference held at the Mississippi University for Women.

Members from two chapters, Phi Beta Lambda, Business and Office Technology (BOT) and Phi Beta Lambda, Information Systems Technology, participated in the event.

First place winners in PBL-IST were James Tillman for Computer Concepts and Information Management; Stanley Murphy for Help Desk and Thomas Cook for Networking Concepts. Parker Easley won second place for Help Desk. Taking third place were Keifer Moffett for Computer Concepts; Robert Grundhoefer for Network Design Team Event and Cyber Security; Murphy for Project Management, Cook for Network Design Team Event and Easley for Network Design. Moffett also garnered a fourth place for Cyber Security.

First place winners in PBL-BOT were Ashley Harris for Administrative Technology and Sara Satcher for Business Communication. T’Keya Brown won second for Job Interview and Emerging Business Issues; Marlena Morris won second for Emerging Business Issues; Harris also won second for Business Communication; and Jada Loper took second for Emerging Business Issue. Third place winners were Vverly Graham and Satcher, both for Emerging Business Issues. Winning fourth place were Antonia Jim for Desktop Publishing; Angela Young for Accounting Principles and Morris for Desktop Publishing.

Also during the session, the PBL-IST chapter’s national championship team from last year was inducted into the FBLA-PBL of Mississippi Hall of Fame. The PBL-BOT group was recognized for placing second in Mississippi for its March of Dimes endeavor.
