- Dave Bohrer / The Meridian StarAn inmate at the East Mississippi Correctional Facility in Lauderdale County hanged himself Thursday, officials said.
Three employees of the East Mississippi Correctional Facility were treated after an inmate stabbed them Tuesday afternoon.
An inmate being moved from one area to another produced a homemade shank and stabbed three employees, according to Lauderdale County Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun.
Calhoun said one employee received on-site treatment at the facility and two others were transported to a hospital with serious, but not-life threatening, injuries.
An investigator has been assigned to the case and once the severity of the stab wounds is documented charges will be determined, Calhoun said.
