Crowds filled the lawn of Meridian City Hall Saturday, taking in the sights and sounds of the 14th Annual Threefoot Arts Festival.
The event, sponsored by the Meridian Council for the Arts, featured works by artists and crafters such as pottery, paintings, jewelry and quilts, as well as live music, tons of childrens’ activities, and lots of tasty food.
On the music front, the Terry Poole Project delivered a set of blues and classic rock songs, delighting the crowd. They were followed by Atlanta’s The Sole Travelers, who gave the audience a powerful dose of Southern Americana and blues.
Children’s activities included crafts, a symphony instrument petting zoo, make-and-take crafts, inflatables and more.
Brooke Norton of Meridian was spotted with her three-year-old daughter, Emme, who was busy creating her own painting.
“We came last year,” Norton said. “We came back because of the fun activities, and the small town charm.”
Friends Zoie McClure and Mary Freeman spent the day painting faces, blowing up balloons and other fun activities. The duo were at the fest representing Stage 2, a troop of young people involved in Meridian’s performing arts scene.
“It’s been a pretty good day,” Freeman said.
Held in conjunction with the Threefoot Arts Festival was the Earth’s Bounty Festival, which featured locally grown produce, canned and baked goods, plants, goat milk soap, handmade candles, fresh honey, and much more.
The Threefoot Arts Festival is funded in part through grants and contributions from the Mississippi Arts Commission and the Lauderdale County Tourism Bureau. This year’s supporters included Lauderdale County Tourism, Regions Bank, Structural Steel, Bud Light, Citizens National Bank, Brickhaus and the Mississippi Arts Commission.
