On a presentation to Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors on the possibilities of a new, relocated jail:

• Doug Las: (Sheriff Billy) Sollie’s current jail is less than 20 years old. Why would he possibly need a new one? Does he have a new home built for his family every 20 years? And it was only a year or two back when he was complaining that the state was wanting to remove their inmates from his jail and it wouldn’t be full anymore if he didn’t rent out beds to the state. We don’t need more rental jail space and the current jail is new enough and more than adequate enough. Let’s worry about the roads that are barely drivable and bridges that are having to be closed for safety reasons.

On the latest Mississippi Power missed deadline on placing the Kemper Power Plant fully online:

• Joe Pike: How many years overdue is it? How many BILLIONS over budget? What a waste. Should have built a solar plant instead. True CLEAN energy.
