Hendon

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department now has Lindsey Mechell Hendon in custody after identifying her as a woman wanted for felony fleeing on Wednesday.

A bail bonding company, that had previously bonded Hendon, 31, for an unrelated charge turned her over to the jail Wednesday night.

On Tuesday, a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle traveling on Highway 145 near I-20 at 1:20 p.m, according to Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun.

The vehicle fled and the deputy lost contact with the vehicle near Dr. Brock Road.

Deputies located the vehicle parked behind a residence on Dunrovin Road, Calhoun said.

“Deputies converged on the area for several hours but were unable to locate the driver,” Calhoun said. Calhoun identified the driver as Hendon.

Calhoun said they believed Hendon fled because of warrants for felony malicious mischief and the possession of methamphetamine.

Deputies have charged Hendon for felony fleeing.

Hendon may not be eligible for bond because the felony fleeing allegedly occurred while she was out on bond for a previous charge.
