Johnson said she learned of the contest while searching on a popular social media page, and chose to share the prize with L.O.V.E.’s Kitchen.

“I want to show appreciation to some of the people who have helped us out at L.O.V.E’s Kitchen,” Johnson said after winning the prize in February. “The community has been so good to us and this is one way for us to say ‘thanks.’”

McDonald will serve his desserts to the clients of L.O.V.E.’s Kitchen and will bake together with Johnson and appear at a VIP reception and open house, according to a news release. They plan to serve Southern-inspired desserts from the Rushion McDonald recipe collection in the Perfect Bake app, including Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Sweet Potato Pie, according to the news release.

The VIP is scheduled from 3-4 p.m. and the open house and meet and greet with McDonald, which is open to the public, is scheduled from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at L.O.V.E.’s Kitchen, 801 18th Ave, Meridian.
