JuCo baseball: Meridian Community College sweeps past Spring Hill

The Meridian Community College baseball returned to action Tuesday afternoon for the first time in 10 days, traveling to Mobile, Ala., to take on Spring Hill College. The Eagles enjoyed their road trip by sweeping the doubleheader over Spring Hill, 9-5 and 12-7.

MCC got the day started by scoring seven early runs that proved to be the difference in a 9-5 win over the Badgers in Game 1. JD Gann led the way at the plate by driving in four runs, three of which crossed the plate on a home run. Milton Smith also had three singles and one RBI in the victory, while Trace Jordan knocked in four runs. 

The Eagles continued their momentum in Game 2 by completing the sweep 12-7. Case Ewing had a two-run double in the victory, while Hunter Stanley added a double and two RBIs. Milton Smith, CJ Hughes and Trace Jordan each had an RBI single, while JD Gann had an RBI single and a solo homer in Game 2.

MCC improved to 9-5 overall with the sweep against Spring Hill and has now won three straight games. The Eagles will return today at Scaggs Field for a doubleheader against Southwest Tennessee Community College  beginning at 1 p.m.
